In their last league game of the season, Punjab Kings put up 214-5 on the board after taking the field with just one overseas player, a first in the history of the IPL.

Their top three did the bulk of the scoring: Prabhsimran Singh registered his second-highest IPL score of 71 in 45 balls, while Atharva Taide (46 off 27) and Rilee Rossouw (49 off 24) made their third-highest IPL scores respectively.

In response, SRH were rocked early, courtesy of Arshdeep Singh. Travis Head, who has already scored 500-plus runs at a strike rate of more than 200 this season, took strike to start off the Hyderabad innings, but couldn’t last beyond the first ball.

The left-arm seamer bowled a back-of-length inswinger with the seam pointing towards fine leg. While there was minimal movement in the air, the ball nipped back in off the surface to beat Head’s defence and crash into the top of his off stump. It was Arshdeep’s first wicket in the first over of the innings this year.

It did not matter. Abhishek Sharma (66 in 28 balls), Rahul Tripathi (33 in 18), Nitish Kumar Reddy (37 in 25), and Heinrich Klaasen (42 in 26) helped SRH win with four wickets and five balls in hand.
