Salt, unsold at the 2024 auction in December, was a last-minute addition to the KKR line-up following the withdrawal of fellow English opener Jason Roy. He impressed immediately on his debut for his new franchise by unleashing mayhem at the start of his innings.
With Jasen coming in to bowl the second over, Salt hit his first six of the night over point. The next ball yielded a similar result as well: the destructive wicketkeeper-batter pounced on the given room and rode the bounce to slap Jansen for a finer six over the square boundary. Off the penultimate ball bowled on length, Salt hammered it way back over extra cover to hit a hat-trick of sixes against Marco Jansen in three consecutive deliveries.
SRH then came back strongly to take four quick wickets and push KKR back to 51-4, before Salt paired up with Ramandeep Singh to bring the hosts right back in the game.
Salt was dismissed for 54 off 40 balls.
At the time of writing, KKR’s score read 141-6 in 16 overs.
