KKR vs SRH (Qualifier 1): IPL 2024 team news
The Kolkata Knight Riders had the chance to try out Gurbaz in the last league match, against the Rajasthan Royals, but rain prevented that. Gurbaz’s lack of match practice this season may lead to his stagnation, which may lead to Narine taking even more risks. Since Narine is a great hitter of spin, expect Sunrisers Hyderabad to go all-pace in the powerplay, with Bhuvneshwar bowling half the overs.
Viyaskanth, almost certainly set to be SRH’s main spinner in the match, will have to bowl in the middle overs and perhaps even at the death. How KKR use Rinku, Russell, and Ramandeep in the batting order to hit spin will be interesting.
KKR’s biggest hurdle will be going past (containing is perhaps not on the cards) the Head-Abhishek pair. Narine and Varun are in terrific form, but Abhishek and Klaasen have been among the best hitters of spin this season. How and when Shreyas uses his spinners – separately or in tandem – may determine the outcome of the match.
KKR have the better spinners, but SRH have arguably the superior seam attack. KKR have a deeper batting line-up, but SRH’s three elite hitters have been more dangerous this season than KKR’s best hitters. It will be a close contest.
