Lucknow Super Giants need to win both their matches (they may still remain in the hunt, but only mathematically), while Delhi Capitals need to win this – their final game of the IPL 2024 league stage – by a truly colossal margin.
First things first – Pant will return for DC. That will boost their cause significantly. As they have demonstrated throughout the season, a very strong Indian-only bowling attack will enable them to pick all four of Warner, Fraser-McGurk, Hope, and Stubbs. Expect them to put up another massive total on a flat surface on a small Delhi ground.
With a match in hand, LSG are placed better than a couple of teams above them in the points table. If they win both matches, they will go through if Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Chennai Super Kings.
Tonight, they are likely to go in with the Kulkarni-Thakur swap again. Mohsin is fit, and between them, he, Thakur, and Naveen have formed a threatening trio. There were rumours of Rahul being replaced as captain ahead of this match, but LSG assistant coach Lance Klusener dismissed them.
