The IPL has come a long way since its inaugural season in 2008, emerging as a cash cow for the BCCI. With a joint digital and television rights deal of a whopping 6 billion USD for the 2023-27 cycle, the IPL has become the second-richest league in the world, trailing only the NFL.
A total of 333 cricketers will go under the hammer, of which 214 are Indians and 119 are overseas cricketers, including two from the associate nations. For the first time, an IPL auction will be held on foreign soil, as Dubai is the official host for the bidding war of the 17th season on December 19.

Where to watch in India
Viewers in India can receive live telecast of the IPL 2024 auction on Star Sports network, including Star Sports 2, Star Sports 2 HD, Star Sports Select 1, Star Sports Select 1 HD, Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 3 and Star Sports First TV channels, while live-streaming facilities will be provided by Jio Cinema.
Where to watch in England
The 2024 IPL auction will be telecast on Sky Sports Mix in the UK, while live streaming will be available on the SKY GO app.
Where to watch in Australia
Fox Sports 505 will telecast the IPL 2024 auction live in Australia, while Foxtel-owned sports streaming service Kayo Sports will provide live-streaming options.
