There’s less than a month until the 17th edition of the IPL gets underway. The schedule for the first 21 matches of the tournament has been announced, with Delhi Capitals playing five matches in the period. A notable change for Delhi this season is that they will play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam instead of their regular home venue, the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium is set to host the latter stages of the Women’s Premier League, which is set to conclude on March 17. Leaving a gap between the end of the WPL and the beginning of the IPL will allow the curator at the Arun Jaitley stadium more time for the playing surface to recover.
Delhi Capitals will play their first IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, before travelling to Jaipur to play Rajasthan Royals on March 28. From there, they will play their first home game against Chennai Super Kings on March 31. Their second home game will be against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3, with the last match in the released schedule being away to Mumbai Indians on April 7 at the Wankhede.
Delhi Capitals finished in ninth position in last year’s season, with five wins and nine losses. With David Warner set to captain again this year and the hopeful return of Rishabh Pant, they will hope to see a significant improvement on that this year.
