Delhi have been one of the under-achievers of the cash-rich Indian Premier League. They stumbled in the semi-finals in the first two seasons and the playoffs in 2012. In 2018, they rebranded themselves as Delhi Capitals and managed to reach the play-offs once again in 2019 before making it to the final for the first time in 2020 when they lost to Mumbai Indians.
They had a disappointing last season as they finished ninth on the points table, winning just five out of 14 matches.

DC in IPL 2024: Team news and injury updates
Delhi replaced Lungi Ngidi, who was ruled out of the 2024 edition due to an ankle injury, with sensational young Australia batter Jake Fraser-McGurk. The setback came a day after Harry Brook confirmed his withdrawal from the tournament this year following the death of his grandmother.
However, DC’s batting will be bolstered by the return of their captain, Rishabh Pant, who missed last season because of a harrowing car crash. Pant has been declared fit and given the green signal by the BCCI to participate in IPL 2024.
In another relief for Delhi, Anrich Nortje will return to action after a prolonged injury lay-off. The express pacer suffered severe setbacks last year, starting with a groin injury before IPL 2023, which he recovered from in time to play ten matches but had to return home mid-way through the campaign due to personal reasons.
Delhi Capitals probable XIs with Impact player options

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed
Impact player options: Prithvi Shaw, Vicky Ostwal
Away:
Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed
Impact player options: Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma
Delhi may use Ishant Sharma as an impact player and hand him the new ball in the powerplays. However, if they need a spin-bowling all-rounder, Vicky Ostwal may get a look-in in place of Prithvi Shaw, whom Delhi will mostly use for his batting prowess.
