David Warner has discovered he is blocked on Instagram by Sunrisers Hyderabad, a fact he realised when attempting to congratulate their new signing, Travis Head.
Head, Warner’s Australia teammate, was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 6.8 crore at the auction ahead of IPL 2024. The left-hander was Player of the Match in the World Cup final against India, and also made three brisk cameos against them in a recent T20I series.
Warner is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s all-time leading run-scorer, with over 4,000 runs for the franchise, and served as their captain from 2015-17 and in 2020 and 2021. In 2016, he led SRH to their first title, winning the Orange Cap three times during his time at the club.
However, Warner’s form tailed off and he was replaced as captain by New Zealand’s Kane Williamson before being left out of the XI altogether. There were murmurs of backroom toil at play in the decision, with Brad Haddin, an SRH coach at the time, revealing that Warner’s axing “wasn’t a cricket decision”.
It now appears as if the wounds are yet to heal, with Warner revealing that he has been blocked by the IPL team on both Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter. Posting on his own Instagram story, he said that he had attempted to repost a story from Head highlighting a post from Sunrisers Hyderabad, but was unable to do so because he had been blocked. He then posted a screenshot from X showing that he had been blocked on that platform as well.

Warner will represent Delhi Capitals at IPL 2024, having been retained by the franchise following consecutive impressive campaigns after being released by SRH.
