The fifth round of the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy took place on Sunday (December 1). Here's how India's T20 internationals fared in their latest matches.

Abhishek Sharma

Leading Punjab in this year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Abhishek fell for an underwhelming 17-ball 21 against Hyderabad in the latest round. A knock of 61 against Madhya Pradesh in round three remains his best score of the season, but he's crossed 30 only one other time.

Abhishek also opened the bowling, as he has been doing this season, and bowled a solitary wicketless over, going for 10.

Sanju Samson

Kerala captain Samson opened the innings against Goa in Hyderabad in a rain-affected encounter. He made his way to a brisk 31 off 15 balls, setting the platform for a team total of 143-6 in 13 overs. Kerala went on to win by 11 runs via the V Jayadevan method.

Rinku Singh

At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rinku played his part in a team effort to help Uttar Pradesh score 242-4 against Arunachal Pradesh, hitting three sixes and a four to score 26 off nine balls – a typically impactful knock from the southpaw.

Tilak Varma

Tilak has been in red-hot form in 2024, but Sunday wasn't his day. After scores of 151, 57, 13 and 51* this season for Hyderabad, he was finally dismissed in single digits, scoring a run-a-ball nine in an eventually unsuccessful chase of 197 against Punjab.

Jitesh Sharma

Slated to play for Vidarbha against Railways, Jitesh never made it onto the field as the match was abandoned due to rain in Visakhapatnam.

Hardik Pandya

All-rounder Hardik has added a touch of stardust to this year's competition, and has been in superb form with the bat in particular. However, he was rested for Baroda's fifth-round clash against Saurashtra, where his side conceded 266-6 and slipped to a 78-run loss.

Axar Patel

Axar was his miserly self with the ball for Gujarat against Sikkim, conceding 19 runs in his four overs as well as picking up a couple of wickets in the 19th over. He also chipped in with a run out for good measure, but did not bat in his side's successful chase of 102.

Ramandeep Singh

Ramandeep made his first significant score of this year's tournament for Punjab against Hyderabad, walking in at 149-5 in the 18th over and slamming 39 off 11 balls to lift his side to 196-6. Punjab used seven bowlers in their (successful) defense of the score, but he was not one of them.

Varun Chakravarthy

In a big-ticket do-or-die clash against Karnataka, Tamil Nadu collapsed to 90 all out in spectacular fashion. However, Varun was the top scorer with 24 off 21 balls from No.9 – his highest T20 score.

Karnataka went on to win the match in 11.3 overs but Varun managed to pick up the wicket of R Smaran, conceding 24 in his four overs.

Ravi Bishnoi

Leg-spinner Bishnoi continued his resurgent form after a difficult IPL season, taking 1-16 for Gujarat against Sikkim to help restrict the opposition to 101-6.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep struggled a touch in his latest Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game. Defending 196 for Punjab, he went for 47 runs in his four overs against Hyderabad, finishing with the wicket of Chama Milind – but not before the rival pace bowler had hit 24 off 11 balls against him.

Avesh Khan

Against Rajasthan at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Avesh opened the bowling as Madhya Pradesh looked to defend a low first-innings score of 139. He returned figures of 1-25 in three overs, dismissing Shubham Garhwal in the 14th over, by which point Rajasthan had already virtually sewn up the chase.
