When will the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 be played?
After the Duleep Trophy and five rounds of the Ranji Trophy, SMAT 2024 will kickstart India’s domestic white-ball season. A total of 134 matches will be played from November 23 before the final on December 15.
What's the format of SMAT 2024?
38 state teams have been divided into five Elite Groups – A, B, C, D and E. Group A, B and C consist of eight teams, while Group D and E feature seven teams each.
The top teams in each of the five groups will reach the quarterfinals. The remaining three slots will be filled by the winners of the pre-quarterfinals, to be held between the runners-up of each group and the side that has the highest points during the league stage from all the remaining teams across all groups.

Elite A: Bengal, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Bihar
Elite B: Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, Karnataka, Tripura, Baroda, Sikkim, Uttarakhand
Elite C: Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Baroda, Hyderabad, Saurashtra, Nagaland, Manipur
Elite D: Assam, Railways, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry, Chandigarh
