How India's T20I players fared in sixth round of SMAT 2024

The sixth round of the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy took place on Tuesday (December 3). Here's how India's T20 internationals performed in their latest matches.

Axar Patel

Axar leaked 28 off three overs without any success during Gujarat's fixture against Uttarakhand, who posted 182-7 on the board. Later, he contributed with an unbeaten 28 off 18 balls as Gujarat gunned down the target in 13.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. The blazing batting display was spearheaded by a 36-ball hundred from Urvil Patel barely a week after he smashed the second-fastest T20 century.

Ravi Bishnoi

Despite rediscovering his form after a difficult IPL season, Bishnoi had a middling outing for Gujarat, going wicketless and giving away 35 runs.

Rinku Singh

At the MCA Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh were reduced to 29-3 by Jammu & Kashmir inside the powerplay. Rinku, coming in at No.5, couldn't rescue his team's teetering innings, making a scratchy 31-ball 24, with only a four to his name. He would be disappointed to not continue in the same vein as the last match, where he scored 26 off nine to help UP set up a mammoth 242-4 against Arunachal Pradesh.

Avesh Khan

Playing for Madhya Pradesh, Avesh picked up 2-31 against Hyderabad. Coming in to bowl the last over with 11 runs to defend, he conceded only four to seal the match in his side's favour.

Varun Chakravarthy

Tamil Nadu slumped to their fourth-straight defeat in the tournament after losing to Saurashtra by 58 runs. Varun couldn't get a breakthrough as Saurashtra scored 235-5 after batting first. However, his economy of 8.75 – the second-best for his side – during the run-fest would give him some consolation.

Jitesh Sharma

Jitesh, captaining Vidarbha against Madhya Pradesh, came in at six and scored a 14-ball 38 to take his team to 206-5. His quickfire cameo consisted of three fours and as many sixes. The match could have gone down to the wire but Vidarbha prevailed by 16 runs in the end.

Sanju Samson

The Kerala captain entered the tournament with consecutive T20I hundreds in South Africa. Against Andhra, however, Samson fell for seven in a poor batting display by his team, in which they were bowled out for 87.

Suryakumar Yadav

Playing his first match of SMAT 2024, the India T20I captain contributed with a crucial innings of 46-ball 70 in the fixture between Mumbai and Services. His innings was studded with seven fours and four sixes.

Shivam Dube

In his first T20 match since July this year, Dube lit up the stage with an unbeaten 71 off 37. He put up 130 runs for the fourth wicket with 'SKY' to take Mumbai to 192-4. With the ball, he picked up a wicket in his spell of 1-21 off three overs as Mumbai won by 39 runs.

Abhishek Sharma

After a staggering 61 off 36 against Madhya Pradesh, Abhishek had meagre returns in his next three outings. The Punjab skipper made a duck during his side’s run-chase against Rajasthan.

However, he was economical with the ball, giving away only 15 runs off his three overs, albeit without a single scalp.

Ramandeep Singh

By the time Ramandeep walked in at seven, Punjab were already on the brink of victory. He finished with a run-a-ball seven to complete the formalities, taking his side to a five-wicket win with 14 balls remaining.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya has been in ominous form. His innings until Baroda's match against Karnataka read 74*, 41*, 69, 47. He had also smashed four sixes in an over twice in three days.

However, the all-rounder had an off day yesterday, falling for a golden duck. Notably, his brother, Krunal also met the same fate in a record hat-trick from Shreyas Gopal.
