With two wickets against Andhra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the joint third-highest wicket-taker among Indians in men’s T20 wicket.
Uttar Pradesh captain Bhuvneshwar continued with his excellent run in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the pre-quarter-final against Andhra at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru – his would-be home venue for the 2025 IPL – Bhuvneshwar bowled his quota of four overs to take 2-30.
He got the in-form KS Bharat in his second over, and in the 18th, he dismissed T Vijay. Karan Sharma held both catches. Bhuvneshwar’s spell was instrumental in restricting Andhra to 156-6, a total Uttar Pradesh overhauled with an over and four wickets in hand. Uttar Pradesh will now play Delhi in the fourth quarter-final of the tournament at the same venue on December 11.
The second wicket took Bhuvneshwar’s T20 career haul to 310 wickets, at par with R Ashwin’s tally. Among Indians, only Yuzvendra Chahal (364) and Piyush Chawla (319) have more.
