Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel, who smashed the second-fastest T20 hundred a few days ago, hit another record 36-ball century in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
Last week, against Tripura, Urvil smashed a 28-ball hundred, the second-fastest T20 century-ever. The wicketkeeper-batter followed that up with another blazing hundred today (December 3), this time against Uttarakhand off 36 balls.
Urvil’s innings consisted of eight fours and 11 sixes as he finished unbeaten on 115 off 41, helping his side gun down 182 in 13.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. He also broke his previous record of the highest individual score by a Gujarat batter (113*) in T20s.
Having recorded the fastest century by an Indian batter in the format earlier, Urvil’s knock against Uttarakhand is now the fourth fastest among his compatriots. Rishabh Pant’s 32-ball hundred in the 2018 season of the competition and Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball ton in a T20I in 2017 are the second and third-fastest, respectively.
Urvil's second T20 hundred within a week made him the first batter to record two centuries in the format within 40 balls.
Estonia's Sahil Chauhan holds the record for the fastest T20 ton, having achieved the feat off 27 balls earlier this year. Urvil and Sahil are the only two batters, who took fewer than 30 balls to score a hundred in the format.

Urvil’s twin knocks have come after being unsold in the 2025 IPL auction in Jeddah. He was released by Gujarat Titans, who picked him up for INR 20 lakh before the 2023 season. He is yet to feature in an IPL match. Urvil’s affinity for blazing hundreds is nothing new: last year, he hit a 41-ball ton in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. That was the second-fastest List A hundred by an Indian, behind Yusuf Pathan's 40-ball ton from 2010.
