BCCI announce revised dates for SL v IND

The revised schedule for the India-Sri Lanka series has been announced by the BCCI on Saturday evening (July 13). The tour was first scheduled to begin on July 26 with the first T20I, followed by two more 20-over games on July 27 and July 29.

The ODIs were announced to begin three days later, from August 1, with two more games over the next six days. August 4 and August 7 were the dates of the remaining two ODIs.

According to the updated schedule, the series will now begin a day later, from July 27. The second T20I will be on July 28 with the last game on July 30. The ODIs will begin from August 2. There has been no change in the schedule of the last two ODIs, which will be held on August 4 and 7.

Gautam Gambhir to take over from the Sri Lanka series

The upcoming series will be headlined by the beginning of Gambhir's tenure, who has been appointed India’s head coach. He takes over from Rahul Dravid, who signed off his India coaching career with the T20 World Cup. Dravid also led India into the finals of the ODI World Cup last year.

Gambhir does not have any prior experience as the coach of an international team but comes with an impressive record as the team mentor in the Indian Premier League. He was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 and 2023, with the team finishing at No.3 in both seasons. He was the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders this year, which ended in the team winning their first title in a decade.

KKR’s last two title triumphs, in 2012 and 2014, came under Gambhhir’s captaincy.
