India's tour of Sri Lanka 2024: Schedule

India will play three T20Is in Sri Lanka, between July 27 and 30, before a three-match ODI series. All three of the T20Is will take place in Pallekele, with the ODI series based in Colombo.

SL vs IND 2024: Squads and team news

Before the squad announcement, reports were in favour of Hardik Pandya taking the captaincy baton from Rohit Sharma, who retired after India’s T20 World Cup win last month. However, India pulled off a surprise by naming Suryakumar Yadav as the captain for the Sri Lanka T20I series, with Shubman Gill as his deputy.

Sri Lanka also have a new T20I captain after Wanindu Hasaranga's resignation. Charith Asalanka will lead the home side in the T20I series.

Gambhir's maiden assignment as India's head coach

All eyes will be on Gautam Gambhir, who will embark on his journey as India's head coach after his predecessor Rahul Dravid’s tenure came to an end. Gambhir will be joined by his former IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders colleagues Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate as assistant coaches.
