Watch: Virat Kohli was bowled for four in the second India-Sri Lanka ODI by an excellent delivery from Lahiru Kumara, ending a stodgy nine-ball innings.
Kohli has been in excellent form in ODIs, making centuries in each of his last two games after a drought of over 1,200 days. However, he found things tougher in the second Sri Lanka ODI, with the tourists going all out in defense of 216 to win.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were both dismissed early on, India slipping to 41-2 inside six overs, and Kohli was unable to avert the slide. The former India captain was unable to score off any of his first seven legal deliveries, twice leaving the ball and twice playing a false stroke, before finally finding the middle off his eighth ball, a pull shot off Kumara finding the fence.
One ball later, the right-arm quick struck back, a length ball coming back in sharply to catch Kohli awkwardly on the crease. The ball caught the No.3’s inside-edge on the way to the stumps, leaving the Kolkata crowd stunned.
