Watch: Mohammed Siraj bowled Kusal Mendis comprehensively with a nip-backer, seeking out the bat-pad gap as the Sri Lanka No.3 aimed an expansive drive.
Defending 373, India got off to the perfect start, reducing Sri Lanka to 23-2 early on. Siraj struck both blows, first as Avishka Fernando offered a catch to Hardik Pandya, and then working over Mendis.
The wicketkeeper-bat defended his first ball, on a good length, to round out a wicket maiden for Siraj. His next delivery was angled in but nipped away as Mendis left, with the third again defended.
Siraj ventured a touch fuller next ball, inviting the drive, but the delivery was far from a half-volley, and as Mendis attempted an expansive shot, some nip in off the seam sent the ball between his bat and pad and crashing into the stumps.
