Gus Atkinson scored a century against Sri Lanka

England's Gus Atkinson entered the Lord's Honours Board once again with a maiden Test century, tonning up from No.8 against Sri Lanka in the second Test at the Home of Cricket.

Atkinson, who made his Test debut in June, made his third entry into the hallowed Honours Board, finishing on 118 in England's first-innings total of 427. In July, he had made his first entry on the list, with 7-45 in the first innings of the Lord's Test against the West Indies. He went on to finish with a match-haul of 12-106.

Atkinson's 118 was the joint second-highest score at No.8 or lower by an England player this century, level with Matt Prior's 118 in the 2011 Sydney Ashes Test. Stuart Broad's famous 169 at No.9 against Pakistan in 2010 also came at Lord's.

Interestingly, he became the quickest to reach all three Lords' Honours Boards, taking just four innings to reach the milestone.

Atkinson finished the first day of the Test on 74, going on to forge a 92-run stand with the other centurion Joe Root.

Aside from Atkinson, the other entrants to the list this year are Root and Asitha Fernando, both of whom made it in the ongoing Test series.

Only six players – Stuart Broad, Ian Botham, Chris Woakes, Gubby Allen, Keith Miller and Atkinson – have scored a century and claimed a ten-wicket haul at Lord's. Aside from Atkinson, Botham is the only other player to do in the same season.
