Gus Atkinson and Joe Root celebrate a wicket during the Lord's Test against Sri Lanka, both have made massive gains in the ICC Test rankings

Following the victories of England and Bangladesh over Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively, there have been big moves in the Test player rankings.

Root, Atkinson top movers from England-Sri Lanka Test

In a record-shattering outing at Lord's, Joe Root scored hundreds in either innings, going past Alastair Cook as the Englishman with the most Test hundreds. Already leading the ICC Test batters rankings, Root's record show has helped him strengthen his lead at the top, as he's now ahead of second-placed Kane Williamson by 63 points.

Currently at 922 rating points, Root is just one point away from equalling his career-best rating of 923, which he achieved in July 2022. Since Peter May, who played his last Test match in 1961, that 923 remains the highest rank among English batters.

Gus Atkinson also had a memorable Test match, becoming just the third Englishman to do the double of a century and a five-for in the same game. It has seen him move 48 places into the top 20 in the all-rounders list, and has seen him enter the top-30 in the bowlers rankings.

For Sri Lanka, Kamindu Mendis has gained 11 spots and is now 25th in the batters rankings while Asitha Fernando has entered the top-10 of the bowlers rankings for the first time, having taken eight wickets in the Lord's Test.

Mehidy, Litton gain big from Pakistan-Bangladesh Test

Litton Das' scintillating hundred after Bangladesh were 26-6 in Rawalpindi has seen him gain 12 spots to reach 15th. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored a half-century and took a five-wicket haul with the ball, has jumped up to 75th in the batters rankings and seventh in the all-rounders rankings.
