A general view of the rain covers and water on the field as rain has delayed the start of play during the second day of the first Test cricket match between South Africa and India at SuperSport Park in Centurion on December 27, 2021

The third day (December 28) of the Boxing Day Test between South Africa and Pakistan in Centurion has been delayed due to rain. Here are what the various weather forecasts say.

South Africa’s 2-0 win over Sri Lanka has catapulted them to the top of the 2023-25 World Test Championship points table. A victory in one of the two Tests against Pakistan is enough to guarantee them a spot in the final.

Pakistan, on the other hand, despite being eliminated from the race can make the fag end of the cycle more interesting by creating an upset. That would benefit the other teams – Australia, India and Sri Lanka – in contention for the summit clash. They can take inspiration from their 3-0 win in the preceding ODIs, handing South Africa their first whitewash at home.

Weather predictions SA vs PAK Centurion Test

The start of day three has been postponed due to rain, with heavy showers currently delaying the start of action. Pakistan currently trail South Africa by two runs, after being bowled out for 211 in the first innings. The hosts made 301, before Pakistan managed 88-3 by stumps on day two.

Rain is predicted throughout day three of the Test between South Africa and Pakistan. The rain is expected to get heavier as the day progresses, with 40 percent showers throughout the day, according to Google Weather.

Sunday will be even heavier, with almost 90 percent showers throughout the day along with heavy thunderstorms during the scheduled start of play. Rain is also predicted for Monday, with thunderstorms expected on day five of the match.
