India's series victory over South Africa last week has seen several of the team's key players rewarded with significant rises in the ICC Men's T20I player rankings.

India faced off against the Proteas in a four-match T20I series in the Rainbow Nation, winning 3-1 after victories in Durban, Centurion and Johannesburg. Several of the younger players made an impact, including the likes of Tilak Varma and Ravi Bishnoi, even as more experienced heads like Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya also performed well.

Their performances have been rewarded in the ICC Men's T20I rankings. Pandya had a relatively limited role to play in the series, and managed 59 runs to go with 2 wickets. That was enough, however, for him to reclaim his spot as the world's No.1 T20I all-rounder. Pandya had made it to No.1 following India's T20 World Cup victory, but dipped to 7th soon after, and was ranked 3rd since October 6.

The other significant change came in the batting ranking of Tilak Varma. Tilak smashed 280 runs across the four matches, including back-to-back unbeaten centuries (107* and 120*) in the third and fourth T20Is.

He has moved up an astonishing 69 places, from 72nd to 3rd. Unsurprisingly, this is the highest Tilak has ever been ranked in the format, and his rating of 806 is the also a personal best. His rise has also meant India's T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, drops one spot from 3rd to 4th. Sanju Samson, who scored two centuries in the series, has moved up 17 spots to 22nd.

South Africa's Marco Jansen has gone up 65 places in the all-rounder rankings, to 14th spot. Varun Chakravarthy, who took 12 wickets in the series, has moved up 36 spots to No.28 in the bowling rankings while teammate Arshdeep Singh has broken into the top 10, making it to 9th place.

Australianpair Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis have also risen in the bowling rankings thanks to their performances against Pakistan, to 3rd and 11th respectively.
