South Africa tour of New Zealand: Team news
Ahead of the tour, South Africa made headlines for announcing a second-string squad replete with uncapped players. With the first-choice player occupied by the ongoing SA20, the new-look team will be led by the uncapped Neil Brand. The move led to widespread debate over Cricket South Africa giving preference to franchise cricket over Tests, a complicated dilemma given the finances of the sport.
New Zealand, on the other hand, have named a full-strength lineup led by Tim Southee. Rachin Ravindra, the ICC Emerging Player of 2023, has earned a recall. Kane Williamson has been named in the squad.
