IND vs SA: What happened in the ODI series?
Earlier this month, India Women hosted South Africa for a three-match ODI series, held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The hosts secured a 3-0 whitewash, led by opener Smriti Mandhana who smashed centuries in the first two matches and 90 in the third, in her first series back at the venue after leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the Women's Premier League title this year.
IND vs SA Women's Test 2024: When does the match start?
The teams will now move to Chennai for a one-off Test straing from June 28. The city is set to host a women’s Test match for the first time since India’s first ever series, against the West Indies in 1976/77.
India defeated Australia and England in Test matches in Mumbai last December, but the last time South Africa last played a Test in India came all the way back in 2014/15. India won that match by an innings and 34 runs in Mysuru. Thirush Kamini (192), Punam Raut (130), and Harmanpreet Kaur (5-44 and 4-41) were the star performers that day.
Of the players that participated in that match, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Rajeshwari Gayakwad (India) and Marizanne Kapp (South Africa) are part of the squad for this series.
The match will start at 9:30 am India time.
Following the four-day Test, the focus will shift to a three-match T20I series from July 5 to 9 in Chennai.
