Stuart Broad leapt spectacularly at wide mid-on to take a one-handed catch and dismiss Kagiso Rabada on day three of the Lord’s Test between England and South Africa.

The Proteas began the morning on 289-7, leading by 124 – but it didn’t take them too long to be reduced to 289-8.

From the third ball of the the day’s opening over, Rabada played a pull shot off Matt Potts, but he couldn’t evade Broad; the right-arm quick jumped and clung on to the ball with his right hand to spark jubilant scenes among his teammates.

The loss of Rabada did not lead to an immediate collapse of the tail, however, with South Africa going on to pass 300 six overs later. They were eventually bowled out for 326, gaining a lead of 161 runs.

Sarel Erwee top-scored for South Africa in their innings, hitting 73 at the top of the order as the visitors passed England’s total of 165 on day two.
