Reeza Hendricks, part of South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad, has been the most expensive buy in the 2025 SA20 auction

The SA20 2025 auction took place in Cape Town yesterday (October 1) – here is the complete list of players sold during the event.

The SA20 2025 auction saw 180 South African and foreign cricketers get auctioned off to fill 13 spots among the six franchises combined. The players were segregated into five categories: batters, wicketkeepers, all-rounders, fast bowlers and spinners.

The competition will be played between January 9 next year and February 8. The six teams competing are MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Joburg Super Kings and Durban Super Giants, all owned by IPL franchise owners.

Hendricks becomes the costliest buy

South Africa opener Reeza Hendricks broke the bank after MI Cape Town spent a whopping R4.3 million to secure his service, making him the most expensive player this season. Earlier, the franchise also signed Ben Stokes as one of their star signings, along with Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.

England pacer Richard Gleeson and West Indies opener Evin Lewis were some other big earners. Notably, Martin Guptill, Josh Little and Temba Bavuma were unable to find a buyer.
