Ahead of the player auction for the latest season, here is what the MI Cape Town squad looks like for SA20 2025.

SA20 2025: MI Cape Town team news

In the first season of SA20, MI Cape Town endured a difficult campaign as they finished last, with just three wins in ten matches. In 2024, there was more pain for them after star players Rashid Khan and Jofra Archer had to pull out of the tournament. MICT once again won the wooden spoon, an unusual feeling for the owners, whose teams have been successful across various other franchise leagues.

This time around, they have made some big moves in terms of personnel. Ryan Rickelton, Rassie van der Dussen, Dewald Brevis, Kagiso Rabada form an impressive domestic core. If Rashid remains fit this season, he will also be like a new signing.

MICT have not kept hold of Archer, but have signed New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult instead, and retained Sri Lankan slinger Nuwan Thushara as the backup overseas pacer and Chris Benjamin a domestic alternative. They have also signed seam-bowling all-rounders Ben Stokes and Azmatullah Omarzai.

Stokes has prioritised red-ball cricket of late in his role as England's Test captain. He is currently injured, but if fully fit by January, he may transform this outfit into a truly dangerous one. But even if Stokes is unable to make it, MICT can fall back on the talented Omarzai to fill the gap.
