Virat Kohli made a comeback to the Ranji Trophy after 13 years, appearing for Delhi in their last league game against Railways, with a horde of fans thronging the stadium to catch a glimpse of the former India captain.
Clips and images surfacing from around the stadium showed fans queuing up outside the gates by as early as six hours before the game. The stands open to the public were filled by toss time, making it an extremely rare occasion in the Indian domestic cricket's in recent times.
Kohli asks security to go easy on pitch invader
As Delhi opening bowlers Navdeep Saini and Siddhant were in operation, reducing Railways to 21-3, a fan made his way through security and touched Kohli's feet. Several security personnel came out chasing him and escorted him away, even as Kohli asked them to be gentle with the fan and not hit him.
The last time Kohli played in a Ranji Trophy match was way back in 2012. It was star-studded encounter against UP, comprising of several high-profile players like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, and more.
