Anshul Kamboj in action during Haryana’s 2024-25 Ranji Trophy fixture against Kerala.

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has picked up a 10-wicket haul during his team’s Ranji trophy fixture against Kerala, breaking several records. Here’s the full list of bowlers to take 10 wickets in a first-class innings in India.

The fast bowler achieved the feat on the third day of the fixture after dismissing Kerala's Shoun Roger at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Stadium in Lahli. He resumed the day requiring two wickets to reach the landmark and completed with figures of 10-49 off his 30.1 overs, including nine maidens.

Kamboj's 10-49 against Kerala was only the third instance when a player had taken a 10-wicket haul in a Ranji Trophy innings. Previously, Bengal's Premanshu Chatterjee in 1956-57 and Rajasthan's Pradeep Sunderam in 1985-86, achieved the feat.

Kamboj's figures are also the third-best in a first-class innings in India. Chatterjee’s 10-20 against Assam heads, with Debasis Mohanty's 10-46 in a 2000-01 Duleep Trophy match occupying the second spot. Anil Kumble, India's leading wicket-taker (953) across formats, was the first one to achieve the feat in a Test match, against Pakistan in Delhi in 1999.

New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel took 10-119 during their previous tour to the country in 2021-22, albeit in a losing cause. Overall, eight players have taken a ten-four in a first-class innings in India.

Kamboj's record-breaking performance is the best ever for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy. The previous record belonged to India's 2007 T20 World Cup final hero Joginder Sharma, who took 8-24 against Vidarbha in 2004-05. Apart from him, eight other Haryana bowlers have taken eight wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings.
