India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has publicly denied his role in a rumoured coup in Mumbai Cricket, hitting out at a report on social media.
Jaiswal moves out of Mumbai
On April 2, news emerged that India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had decided to move from Mumbai to Goa's domestic team. He later confirmed that the move was encouraged by the promise of a leadership role at Goa.
“It was a very tough decision for me," Jaiswal told The Indian Express. "Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA. Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and it has offered me a leadership role".

Suryakumar Yadav rubbishes "lead role" in Mumbai coup
Later, the Times of India carried a report suggesting that Suryakumar Yadav was also following his India teammate out of Mumbai to Goa. The news piece said that a "coup is seemingly underway in Mumbai Cricket", citing "murmurs of unrest" within the team. According to a quote from Goa Cricket Association secretary Shambha Desai, the Goa team was in talks with "many players from around the country", with the report suggesting SKY's Mumbai Indians teammate, and Hyderabad captain Tilak Varma might also be in the radar.
However, SKY rubbished the report on social media. Attaching a screenshot of a Times of India post that rumoured Suryakumar to be playing a "lead role" in the coup, the 34-year-old called it "absolute nonsense".
"Is it a script writer or a journalist? If I want to laugh, I'll stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Absolute nonsense".
The report now carries a line that says "sources close to the batter have denied this move at the moment", clarifying that an update to the piece had been made.
