Cheteshwar Pujara and Arzan Nagwaswalla impressed on day four of the second round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25

The second round of the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season kicked off on October 18. Here are all the updates from day four.

Elite Group A

After being forced to follow on, Meghalaya were skittled out for 138 in the fourth innings, losing the match by innings and 17 runs. Manisankar Murasingh was Tripura's wrecker-in-chief, picking up 5-44. He also took 6-52 in the first innings besides scoring a 72-ball 60 at No.8.

Mumbai chased Maharashtra’s 74 quite comfortably in 13.3 overs, with Prithvi Shaw (39* off 36 balls) and Hardik Tamore (21* off 26) finishing not out. 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, whose 176 helped Mumbai secure a 315-run first innings lead, was the Player of the Match.

Services, chasing 341 runs to win, had the worst start possible, losing four wickets for just 50 runs. An 80-run stand between wicketkeeper batter Lovekesh Bansal and captain Rajat Paliwal steadied the ship before the latter was dismissed for 47 by Baroda's Mahesh Pithiya. After Services lost their ninth wicket for 202, Arjun Sharma's 79* off 106 saw them home, but it was too much to ask for as they lost the match by 65 runs, with Pithiya claiming a six-wicket haul.

At Cuttack, Jammu & Kashmir set Odisha a 269-run target after Abdul Samad's second century of the match. The match was heading towards a certain draw before a collapse made it interesting. Odisha lost eight wickets cheaply but Sandeep Pattnaik's unbeaten 55 off 222 kept things tight at the other end, ensuring a draw for the hosts.
