The second round of the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season kicked off on October 18. Here are all the updates from the second day.
Elite Group A
After resuming the day at 29-2, Tripura lost opener Jiwanjot Singh for eight. Sridam Paul hit a commendable 178-ball 146 to take the tourists to 346-6 at stumps.
Seventeen-year-old Ayush Mhatre added 49 runs more to his overnight score of 127 not out before being dismissed by Maharashtra's Hitesh Walunj. After a disappointing first round, Shreyas Iyer struck 142 to give a 315-run first innings lead as Walunj picked up six wickets.
No.5 batter Vishnu Solanki fell for 125 early in the day, ending a 252-run stand with Shivalik Sharma that had rescued Baroda from 35-3 on day one. Shivalik was looking set for a double hundred before falling to Services' Pulkit Narang for 178. Skipper Krunal Pandya's 86 off 117 and Atit Sheth's unbeaten 53 off 50 piled on the misery for the opposition. Baroda declared their first innings for 477-6.
Odisha were in a spot of bother against Jammu & Kashmir after starting the day at 15-1. They lost half their side for 106 in response to J & K's 270 in the first innings. Captain Govinda Poddar's 87 not out resurrected their innings before rain stopped play with their score at 198-5 after 69.1 overs.

Elite Group B
Against Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat captain Chintan Gaja fell eight shy of a century. Gujarat had slipped to 203-8, Gaja's 152-ball 92 and Arzan Nagwaswalla's unbeaten 82 off 119 took the hosts to 367. In response, Andhra slipped to 29-5 before KS Bharat's 72-ball 78 not out arrested the collapse.
Rajasthan couldn't add much to their overnight tally of 304-7 against Himachal Pradesh, losing the last three wickets for 30 runs. Mahipal Lomror fell for an agonising 99, while left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar completed a five-wicket haul. Deepak Chahar's 5-30 skittled Himachal Pradesh for 98 to put his side in the driver's seat. Himachal Pradesh finished at 147-2 after being asked to follow on.
Hyderabad slipped to 64-4 in response to Uttarakhand's 325 in the first innings. Kodimela Himateja (78) formed a 142-run partnership with wicketkeeper Rahul Radesh (82*) bringing their innings back on track.
After Yash Rathod's 118 off 196 rescued Vidarbha from 14-4 to 261-8 on day one, they were bowled out for 283, with Harsh Dubey dismissed for 76. Puducherry were on 45-1 when bad light halted play.

Elite Group C
At Lucknow, Haryana scored 431-9 against Uttar Pradesh. After Himanshu Rana starred with a 176-ball 114, Dheeru Singh (103) and Sumit Kumar (61) chipped in with some vital contributions. Yuzvendra Chahal at No.10 frustrated the bowlers with 38* off 114.
Having put 277 on the board in their first innings, Punjab skittled out Madhya Pradesh for 207. Gurnoor Brar took three wickets, while Mayank Markande, Sukhwinder Singh and Naman Dhir struck twice each. Like Punjab's Sahil Arora (101) and Rajat Patidar (90) scored the majority of runs for the visitors.
For the second straight day, no play was possible in the Bengal-Bihar match due to rain and a wet outfield, while Kerala reached 161-3 in the rain-affected match against Karnataka in Allur at stumps.

Elite Group D
Tamul Nadu declared their first innings at 674-6 against Delhi. Opener Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 213, with Washington Sundar (152) and Pradosh Ranjan Paul (117) also scoring hundreds.
Another massive score on day two came from Chhattisgarh against Saurashtra. Amandeep Khare remained unbeaten on 203 when they declared their innings at 578-7. Sanjeet Desai (146) scored a century, with Eknath Kerkar (50) and Shubham Agrawal (52) also contributing.
Chandigarh gave a strong reply after bowling out Assam for 266. Mayank Sidhu (54) and Raj Angad Bawa (122*) stitched an unbeaten 147-run stand to take their team to 301-5 after day two.
Jharkhand scored 417 in the first innings, with Virat Singh (103*) and captain Ishan Kishan (101) slamming centuries, while opener Md Nazim scored 96. Himanshu Sangwan (5-94) was the pick of the bowlers for Railways, who lost opener Shivam Chaudhary for a duck.
