The 2024/25 Ranji season resumed on January 23, with the focus on international players' potential availability. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill are all expected to be rested from India's ODI series against England, freeing up time to play in the Ranji Trophy amid calls for their participation in domestic cricket.
Yashavi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill make domestic comebacks
India Test players Jaiswal and Gill have returned to play for Mumbai and Punjab respectively in the latest Ranji Trophy round. However, both fell cheaply on the first day.
Rohit returns too
Following BCCI's mandate of international players featuring more in domestic cricket, Rohit Sharma too made his comeback, opening alongside Jaiswal for Mumbai. However, he did not last long, falling for three.
He did come out all guns blazing in the second innings, hitting three sixes during a rapid start, but was dismissed ahead of lunch, falling for 28 off 35.
Who else will be playing?
Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, among others, are in action in the latest Ranji Trophy round.
