Ranji Trophy returns not long after the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup. The first leg of India’s premier first-class domestic competition will commence on October 11.
Champions Mumbai, who also won the Irani Cup last week, will begin their 42nd title defence with an away game against Baroda in Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara on Thursday. The second leg of the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 will get underway in January 2025, and the knockout phase will be played from February 8 to March 2.

This season will have several stars participating, with India players Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishan Kishan all in action. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, R Sai Kishore and Tilak Varma, who have impressed in domestic cricket and the IPL are also part of the squads for their respective teams.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's domestic T20 and List A competitions respectively, are scheduled between the two legs of the red-ball competition.
