The knockout stage of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy started from today (February 8). Here’s the full schedule of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
The current edition of the Ranji Trophy is at its business end, with eight teams playing the quarter-finals from February 8 to 12. Title-holders Mumbai made a last-minute entry after winning comprehensively over Meghalaya, joining Jammu & Kashmir from Group A.
On the other hand, the previous year’s runners-up secured the top side from Group B in the last round and are playing Tamil Nadu in the quarter-finals. Two-time champions also made it from Group D.
While group-toppers Vidarbha, Haryana and Saurashtra are playing their quarter-finals against Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Gujarat respectively at home, J & K, who beat Baroda in the previous round to enter the knockouts, will host Kerala in Pune.
Mumbai-Haryana quarter-final venue changed
In a last-minute change, the quarter-final between Mumbai and Haryana, which was supposed to be held at Haryana's home ground of Lahli in Rohtak, was shifted to Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Although the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) cited 'unavoidable circumstances' for the venue change, a Times of India (TOI) report confirmed that it was due to the pitch at Lahli being underprepared for the high-stakes clash.
"According to sources, the BCCI shifted the match to Kolkata as the Lahli pitch couldn't be prepared in time due to the harsh weather in Northern India," the TOI report read.
"We had made all the preparations to take the team to Lahli, like providing woollen sweaters for the players. However, the BCCI shifted the game at the last moment - we received an email at 11.30 pm last night informing us of the venue switch due to 'unavoidable circumstances,'" MCA secretary Abhay Hadap was quoted as saying by the Indian national daily.
