During the final of Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Vidarbha left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey broke the record for the most wickets in a single edition of the tournament.
Dubey claimed his 67th wicket of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season after getting Kerala batter Aditya Sarwate caught at first slip for 79 in the 56th over of the second innings. The left-arm spinner picked another one when Salman Nizar was pinned lbw for 21 just before lunch, leaving Kerala at 219-5. In the process, he levelled with Bihar's Ashutosh Aman's record tally of 68 wickets in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy.
Dubey eventually surpassed Aman when he dismissed Kerala No.10 M.D. Nidheesh off the final ball of the 122nd over. The other bowlers in the top-five are Jaydev Unadkat (67 wickets in 2019-20), Bishan Singh Bedi (64 in 1974-75) and Dodda Ganesh (62 in 1998-99).
His third victim of the innings gave Vidarbha a chance to claim an important first innings lead, with Kerala still needing to overcome a 41-run deficit. After batting first, Vidarbha posted 379 in the first innings, riding on a 285-ball 153 by Danish Malewar.
