Fans rushed to what they believed was Himanshu Sangwan's social media account after he dismissed Virat Kohli for six in today's Ranji Trophy match. It was later discovered that the account did not belong to the bowler.

Thousands of fans, who thronged the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to catch a glimpse of Kohli playing his maiden Ranji Trophy game in 12 years, were left disappointed after he was bowled for six. Kohli faced just 15 balls in the innings before he was sent back by Sangwan, a former Delhi cricketer who has been playing for Railways since 2019.

Soon after the dismissal, Kohli’s fans took to Instagram to vent out their anger, directing abuses on Sangwan’s account. However, the account owner later put out a story on the platform clarifying he was not the bowler.

His story read: “Brothers, I am not cricket’s Himanshu Sangwan like people are thinking me to be.”

He also uploaded a video soon after, saying: “Since morning, Virat Kohli fans are trolling me, commenting and sending me wrong messages. I am not the cricketer Himanshu Sangwan, I am a normal middle-class person called Himanshu Sangwan. I am getting a lot of messages, so please spread this.”
