Against Haryana at Indore, Rajat Patidar slammed the fifth-fastest hundred in the history of Ranji Trophy.
Madhya Pradesh were bowled out for 308 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium after Shubham Sharma won the toss and opted to bat. For the hosts, Himanshu Mantri made 97, while Jayant Yadav claimed 5-84. Lakshay Dalal (105), Himanshu Rana (90), Dheeru Singh (94), and Harshal Patel (81) then took Haryana to 440 as Kumar Kartikeya claimed 5-118.
With the match already into the final day, there was little chance of a result. Coming to bat on the final day at 49-1, Patidar blazed away to a hundred in only 68 balls, and later, 150 off 97. He was eventually caught by Kapil Hooda off Aman Kumar for a 102-ball 159 with 13 fours and seven sixes.
Patidar’s was the fastest hundred for Madhya Pradesh batter, eclipsing Naman Ojha’s record by one ball. It is also the fifth-fastest in the history of the Ranji Trophy, where data is available.

Note:
Shakti Singh is reported to have scored a 42- or 45-ball hundred for Himachal Pradesh against Haryana at Dharamshala in 1990-91, but he himself admitted that the score was kept by his teammates and not official scorers. That makes Pant’s hundred the fastest by an Indian in first-class cricket.
