Kamboj was a part of Mumbai Indians in the 2024 IPL

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has become only the third player in the Ranji Trophy to claim ten wickets in an innings.

Against Kerala, Kamboj took 10-49 to enter into record books. He bowled a total of 30.1 overs, including nine maidens. Before Kamboj, only two players have claimed a 10-wicket haul in an innings in Ranji Trophy’s history. Bengal's Premanshu Chatterjee was the first to achieve the feat against Assam in the 1956-57 season. In 1985-86, Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam did so against Vidarbha.

Kamboj was pivotal to Haryana winning their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy last year, finishing with 17 wickets from 10 matches. Before starting the current Indian first-class season, he had no five-wicket hauls under his belt. However, in two months, he has an eight-wicket haul in the Duleep Trophy, followed by a perfect ten against Kerala at Lahli.

Kaboj’s 10-49 is also the best performance for Haryana in the tournament. The previous record was held by Joginder Sharma, who took 8-24 against Vidarbha in 2004-05. Apart from Joginder, eight other Haryana bowlers have taken eight wickets in a Ranji innings. Kamboj's figures are also the third-best by a bowler in India. Chatterjee's 10-20 heads the list, with Debasis Mohanty's 10-46 in a 2000/01 Duleep Trophy match occupying the second spot.

For Kerala, there were as many as four half-centurions. They were Rohan S Kunnummal (55), Akshay Chandran (59), captain Sachin Baby (52), Mohammed Azharuddeen (53). No.8 Shoun Roger contributed with a 107-ball 42 to stretch their innings to 291 in 116.1 overs.
