Watch: A comical fielding mix-up followed by a brilliant bare-handed flick by Tom Kohler-Cadmore led to USA batter Andries Gous being run out for a duck in Monday's (April 14) PSL 2025 clash between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi.
The incident occurred in the second over after Islamabad United opted to bat first. A short-of-a-length delivery from Peshawar Zalmi pacer Mohammad Ali drifted down the leg side, deflecting off opener Sahibzada Farhan’s bat. Sufyan Muqeem chased the ball, followed by wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris. Muqeem collected it near the boundary and casually tossed it underarm toward Haris, expecting a relay throw. However, the ball sailed over Haris’ head, landing beyond his reach.
Spotting the mix-up, Saim Ayub sprinted from the striker’s end, gathered the ball, and hurled it to the nearer end. By then, the batters had set off for a third run. Tom Kohler-Cadmore received the throw and, in one motion, slapped the ball onto the stumps – reminiscent of MS Dhoni’s iconic one-handed flicks – to catch Farhan's fellow opener Gous short. Gous, the first USA player to feature in the PSL, trudged back for a duck. Remarkably, Kohler-Cadmore’s dismissal was executed barehanded.
Farhan, a last-minute addition to United’s squad after his record-breaking National T20 campaign, repaid the faith with a blistering 52-ball 106, powering the team to 243-5.
