The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the list of umpires and match referees for the PSL 2025 that begins on April 11.
The tenth edition of the tournament will be held in four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. There will be 30 league games, followed by the Qualifiers and the Eliminator, with the final to be held on May 18.
Aleem Dar to officiate in his final PSL season
Renowned umpire Aleem Dar will stand in his last PSL season, having announced last year that he would retire after the 2024-25 domestic season. His celebrated career ran for nearly 25 years before he stepped down from the ICC’s Elite Panel of Umpires in March 2023.
Dar, who is also a member of Pakistan’s national selection committee, had expressed his desire to focus on his charity work after his umpiring retirement. He has been an umpire in 818 games thus far, including 567 international games.
A total of 13 umpires and seven match referees will oversee the group-stage fixtures. Representing the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires are Ahsan Raza, Paul Reiffel, and Kumar Dharmasena. Additionally, international officials such as Chris Brown and Alex Wharf will also be part of the umpiring team.
The list of match referees from the ICC Elite Panel includes Ranjan Madugalle and his Sri Lankan compatriot Roshan Mahanama.
From Pakistan, Aleem Dar, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, and Rashid Riaz Waqar - members of the PCB International Panel of Umpires - will be on duty. Umpires from the PCB Elite Panel, including Abdul Moqeet, Nasir Hussain, Tariq Rasheed, and Zulfiqar Jan, will also officiate during the tournament.
PCB’s International Panel match referees Ali Naqvi and Muhammad Javed Malik are also named, alongside Iftikhar Ahmed, Iqbal Sheikh, and Nadeem Arshad.
