The leading wicket-taker for every season of the PSL is awarded the Maroon Cap and the Fazal Mahmood Award, named after Pakistan’s first great bowler.
From the 2017 edition, the leading run-scorer of every season of the Pakistan Super League is awarded the Maroon Cap and the Fazal Mahmood Award.
The previous winners are Sohail Khan (2017), Faheem Ashraf (2018), Hassan Ali (2019), Shaheen Shah Afridi (2020 and 2022), Shahnawaz Dahani (2021), Abbas Afridi (2023), and Usama Mir (2024). Hassan’s 2019 record of 25 wickets remains a season record for the league.
PSL 2025 Maroon Cap: Top wicket-takers after today’s Multan vs Lahore match
With 11 wickets from four games, Jason Holder is the leading wicket-taker of the season. Hot on his heels is Hassan (who holds the all-time record for most wickets in a season) of the Karachi Kings, on 10 wickets.
Two wickets behind Hassan are Shadab Khan, Holder’s captain at Islamabad United; Rishad Hossain of the Lahore Qalandars, and Hassan’s teammate Abbas Afridi. Rishad took two wickets in LQ’s defeat last night, against the Multan Sultans.
Rishad’s teammate Shaheen Shah Afridi took a wicket to reach six. Later at night, Ubaid Shah of MS took three to draw level with him (and top the chart for his team).
