Batting first, Peshawar made 147-8. Babar Azam, having made 0, 1 and 2 previously, top-scored with 46. However, he took 41 balls to get those runs, smashing seven fours. It was Alzarri Joseph’s unbeaten 13-ball 24 which took them to a competitive total.
Karachi, in response, lost Tim Seifert off the very first ball to Luke Wood. David Warner registered his maiden half-century in the tournament, a 47-ball 60. His departure in the 17th over left the Kings needing 29 off 21. Quick wickets of Abbas Afridi (0) and Aamer Jamal (1) tightened the equation to 15 off 11.
Nine were needed off the final over with two wickets in hand. Hussain Talat, bowling for the first time in the match, was hit for a four by Khushdil Shah, reducing the equation to five off five balls. After a single from Khushdil, Hassan Ali sealed the Kings' win with a boundary. Khusdil finished unbeaten on 23 off 17, while Hassan scored six off three.
