Ihsanullah celebrates after taking a wicket in the PSL

Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah has reversed his decision to retire from the PSL less than 24 hours after announcing he would no longer playing the league, saying he had made the decision to quite while in "an emotional state".

Speaking to Geo Super, the former Multan Sultans player said: "I take my decision back. No franchise picked me, and the comments of a lot of people sent me over the edge. I'm going to work hard. There are four months before the PSL. The people who didn't select me are the same ones who will select me in the future. I have no plans to retire."

The roll back comes after the 22-year-old announced his retirement hours after he wasn't picked up in the draft for this year's Pakistan Super League. Ihsanullah achieved a breakthrough season in the 2023 PSL, in which he took 22 wickets at an average of 15.77.

After he failed to pick up a deal in the auction for this year's competition, the fast-bowler spoke to to Public News, and stated that he no longer wished to play in the competition. "People are self-serving. I boycott the PSL, no one will ever see me in the PSL," he said. "Nobody has contacted me, even [Ali Tareen, Multan Sultans' owner] supported my talent, not me personally."

Following making his ODI debut against New Zealand, Ihsanullah picked up an elbow injury which kept him out of professional cricket until recently. It has since been revealed that the handling of the injury by the PCB led to a delay in diagnosis, and subsequent exacerbation of the injury.

Multan Sultans owner Tareen also criticised the PCB for its treatment of the fast-bowler, and alleged that it was the franchise who covered Ihsanullah's living expenses while he was undergoing treatment. An investigation of his treatment which resulted in a damning report led to PCB chief medical officer Dr Sohail Saleem resigning from his position.
