WTC points table after Pakistan-West Indies series

Pakistan will finish last after the West Indies won the second Test match to square the 2024-25 series 1-1.

Pakistan came out to chase 254 in the second Test of the two-match series, at Multan. Had they pulled it off, it would have been the third-largest successful chase in Pakistan, but they could not. They quickly slumped to 5-2, and were 76-4 when stumps were called on day two.

It took the the West Indies spinners only 20 overs to wrap things up on the third morning. Jomel Warrican claimed 5-27 to finish with match figures of 9-70, while Gudakesh Motie had 2-35 and Kevin Sinclair 3-61. For the hosts, Babar Azam (31) and Mohammad Rizwan (25) were the only ones to go past 20.

Pakistan finish 2023-2025 WTC last on the points table

The win was the West Indies’s first in Pakistan since their seven-wicket triumph in Faisalabad in 1990-91. They also levelled the series, attained a PCT of 28.21, and finished eighth on the WTC 2023-25 points table. Pakistan, meanwhile, slumped to the bottom with a PCT of 27.98.

When the series began, Bangladesh (31.25) needed neither team to score more than 12 points. Since exactly that happened, Bangladesh will finish the cycle at seventh place.

Australia’s two Tests in Sri Lanka are the only ones left in the cycle now. Since South Africa and Australia have already qualified, there is little context left – other than Sri Lanka leapfrogging India to finish third. For that, they need to win both Tests.
