Ollie Pope falls for a duck after Aamer Jamal held onto an outstanding catch during day two of the first Test between England and Pakistan

Watch: Stand-in opener Ollie Pope was dismissed for a duck after all-rounder Aamir Jamal took a brilliant catch in the final session on day two of the first Test between Pakistan and England in Multan.

Pope didn’t have the likeliest of outings after coming out to open the innings following a hand injury to Ben Duckett at the fall of Pakistan’s last wicket. Facing his second ball of the innings against Naseem Shah, the stand-in England captain was undone by a brilliant catch from Jamal.

Naseem bowled it short, and Pope was quick to latch onto it, playing a pull shot. He played it in the air, and the ball seemed like flying past Jamal, positioned at midwicket. However, the fielder threw himself to his right and plucked a spectacular catch with one hand to give Pakistan their first breakthrough.

In the first innings, the hosts racked up 556 in 149 overs. The pitch looked like a belter as there was very little to offer for the bowlers, which makes Pope's early wicket all the more crucial for both sides.
