Ben Stokes gets stumped on day four of the second Test between Pakistan and England in Multan

Watch: England captain Ben Stokes was stumped in hilarious fashion on day four of the second Test against Pakistan in Multan, as his bat went flying out of his hands.

England began day four at 36-2 in the fourth innings, chasing 297 for victory. They were rocked early as Ollie Pope and Joe Root departed in quick succession to leave them at 55-4, which brought captain Ben Stokes to the crease.

Stokes took the aggressive route to counter the turn on the tired Multan pitch. That is what brought his downfall. During the 28th over, Stokes, batting then on 37 off 35 balls, gave left-arm spinner Noman Ali the charge, and attempted to play a long heave on the leg side. In the process, he was beaten in the flight and lost grip of his bat, which soared high in the sky. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan collected the ball neatly just past leg stump to stump him out. England were reduced to 125-7. The last three wickets didn’t provide any resistance as the visitors were bowled out for 144, succumbing to a 152-run defeat.

Noman, who made his comeback in the match, finished with 8-46 and was the star performer in the fourth innings. This was Pakistan’s first Test victory at home in 1,348 days. The win was set up by a brilliant hundred from debutant Kamran Ghulam before off-spinner Sajid Khan, another player making his comeback, picked up 7-111 to hand the home side a decisive 75-run first innings lead.
