England skipper Ben Stokes has been ruled out from the first Test as he has failed to recover from his hamstring injury, meaning Ollie Pope will continue in his role as stand-in captain. Zak Crawley and Jack Leach have returned to the squad and the XI for the first Test, while seamer Brydon Carse is making his debut.
For Pakistan, their first-choice pace bowling trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Aamir Jamal are back for the first Test.
