Pakistan have left out several senior players for the remainder of the England series, with Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah not making it to the squad.

Pakistan, who are without a win in their last 11 Test matches at home and have slipped to the bottom of the table in the World Test Championship table, have named a 16-member squad for the last two Tests against England.

The squad is headlined by the absence of stalwarts Babar and Shaheen, while Naseem misses out too. Babar has been dropped, according to reports from Pakistan, but it is not clear why the two quicks have been left out. Shaheen was controversially left out of the XI for Pakistan's second Test against Bangladesh, with Naseem rested for that game too.

Four uncapped players have been picked - Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Huraira, Mehran Mumtaz and Haseebullah. Abrar Ahmed, who missed the last two days of the first Test due to illness, is also out of the squad.

Pakistan’s next Test against England, from October 15, is set to be played on a re-used pitch in Multan. The last match will be in Rawalpindi from October 24.

Pakistan are yet to win a Test match under Shan Masood, losing all six games he has led since the start of the Australia tour.
