Sajid Khan and Noman Ali took all 20 England wickets for Pakistan in the second Test in Multan, achieving a rare feat for the first time in 52 years.

In the second Test in Multan, Pakistan made the unconventional decision to re-use the same wicket on which they lost to England by an innings last week. They also made wholesale changes to their lineup, playing just one frontline seamer in Aamer Jamal.

With the match beginning on what was effectively a day six wicket, spin was expected to play a big part – and it did, from Pakistan's perspective. After they scored 366, off-spinner Sajid Khan took 7-111 to help bowl England out for 291. In the run chase, it was Noman Ali's 8-46 that helped clinch the 152-run victory.

In the first innings, Noman took the other three wickets, and in the second Sajid took the other two, meaning that the two bowlers shared all 20 England wickets between them. This was just the seventh instance of this happening in Test history.

The last time two bowlers shared all 20 of their team's wickets came in 1972, 52 years ago. On that occasion, it was debutant Bob Massie and a 22-year-old Dennis Lillee who took all 20 wickets for Australia against England at Lord's – but in unequal fashion.

Lillee took 2-90 and 2-50, finishing with just four wickets. All of the other 16 went to Massie, with eight in each innings. Australia went on to win by eight wickets.

Sajid and Noman's split of nine and 11 wickets each is has happened for the second time now. In 1909, England's George Hirst took 9-86 in the match, with Colin Blythe taking 11-102. This remains the most even split of 20 wickets among two bowlers. Ten apiece has not yet been achieved.
