Harry Brook has notched up his fourth Test hundred, in as many matches, in Pakistan, a joint record by an overseas batter.
Brook has had a stunning start to his Test career: before the series against Pakistan, the 25-year-old scored 1,558 runs in 30 innings at an average of 53.72 with the help of five hundreds and nine fifties. Of the 18 Tests, five had come away from home - two in New Zealand and the remaining in Pakistan.
Brook, who played his first overseas Test in Rawalpindi in December 2022, made 153 and 87 in the two innings and ended the series with scores of 9, 108 and 111. Two months later, England toured New Zealand, where Brook continued his fine form, ending with three fifty-plus scores in four innings, including a 176-ball 186 at Wellington.
He had to wait nearly 19 months for his next overseas Test match, the current game against Pakistan, and he lapped up the opportunity again with his sixth hundred on Wednesday.
His ton took just 119 balls, making him equal with Aravinda de Silva and Mohinder Amarnath with the most Test hundreds by a touring batter in Pakistan. While Amarnath took 17 innings to get to the feat, Sri Lanka’s de Silva needed 14. Brook, on the other hand, has taken just six innings. No other England batter has made more than two in Pakistan.
